I think I'm in love, but it makes me kind of nervous to say so.

Yup.
Good song.

There's june bugs running into the window.  They make a hollow thud sort of noise.  Mom says they bite. I don't think I like them.

This past school year was really hard. I think I'm still exhausted and bitter...yet still very alive and vibrant. Sometimes, I run off a hybrid of cynicism and leafiness. It seems to work.

Bestfriend's BabyLove is going to come out and meet the world any day now... (hooray!!!!!!!!)

Which is why I'm in Minnesota.  Because I love and value Debra Joy, and I want to be a part of her life, and I want to know her child.  Really really important.

However, I deeply miss life in Alaska.  I miss sliding down cliffs and sand in my toes and coin deities and sheep brownies and spiderman pjs.  I miss ridiculously large mosquitoes, baby moose (mooslings) rejoicing in their out-of-the-womb romps, midnight sunsets, terrifying mountains, and the llamas at the ranch down the road.  Mostly, I miss the people.  Sprawling in the Denali Room with one of my girls, talking about everything from boys to God's glory and the meaning of life. Reveling in the fantastic-80s-ness of Top Gun with guys. Pictionary with the youth group girls (favorite submissions: implosion, and Brigham Young). What exactly "leafy" is.  Guitar Hero at all hours of the day.  Ridiculously wonderful faxes from Cabin 2. Ultimate Not-Frisbee.

Sigh.

I feel myself speeding back up, driven by the culture around me, by old habits, by my laziness and lack of intentionality to maintain simplicity and "slowness."

Good thing I have two months here to work on it.

Here's to life!!!
Cheers.

I'm taking the GRE in 10 hours. Looking into grad schools for guidance counseling.  Maybe this fall, if a school fits.

I sew for a hobby. Not all that glamorous, but I like having a hobby. I don't think I've had one since I was... 10. Approximately.  Plus, JoAnn Fabrics sells "snuggle flannel."  It's makes the whole sewing process...cozy.

My brain is back, and I'm really excited.

The grocery store where I live in AK sells lime Jarritos.

Aarigaa, Agayun, aarigaa.

Rain

I met a slug last night named Bartholomew.  He lived in my apartment for a little while, until he stopped poking his little antennae-feely-eyeball-things out of his head...and then I got concerned and put him outside.

Kick, kick, kick step rock step

Last night was pure splendor.
I danced the charleston.
And laughed.  A lot.

And Mary Meyer is a wonderful woman.  Holla.
